Asset Management Solutions

PlanGraphics' 24-year history with government agencies and utility organizations includes an exceptional level of experience in asset management, covering both real property as well as the related topics of facilities and infrastructure management.

The field of asset management broadly encompasses a number of components that address the inventory and management of tangible property and infrastructure (including compliance with the relatively new requirements of GASB 34). The figure at right shows a general but not exhaustiive view of the asset-management environment in which PlanGraphics is involved. It includes a core functionality for asset inventory, as well as other functional components that support this core.

Our consulting assistance covers the following areas:

  • Identification of business processes and workflows impacting asset management
  • Evaluation of needs for information technology solutions in asset management
  • Examination of current systems and requirements for integration
  • Development of implementation priorities and strategies
  • Preparation of detailed specifications for software and databases
  • Development of integrated software solutions to business needs
  • Help in integrating existing systems and databases to support asset management.

PlanGraphics quickly identifies the asset management needs that are priorities of our clients, and we define practical strategies and solutions.

PlanGraphics has implemented and integrated off-the-shelf asset management and work management software packages from companies such as RJN, Hansen, and Synergen. We also have extensive experience in working with other "core technologies" and in integrating commercial software packages and databases. We have a great deal of experience with implementing and integrating the following types of core technologies:

  • Relational database management systems (RDBMS) with a particular focus on Oracle, DB2, and SQL Server

  • Geographic information systems (GIS), including vast experience with Oracle Spatial and GIS software from ESRI, Intergraph, MapInfo, and Autodesk
  • Computer-aided drafting and design (CAD) focusing on standards for import and export of engineering documents.

For real property information systems, we have worked extensively with computer-aided mass appaisal (CAMA) and otherland management applications that are often integrated with GIS, including development and review, valuation data, permitting, and code compliance.

For facilities and infrastructure, our expertise encompasses numerous related systems:

  • System modeling and analysis software use and integration, including KYPIPE, SWM, and others.
