Emergency
Management Solutions
Since the events
of September 11, 2001, the value of integrated GIS technology in
supporting emergency services and public safety organizations has
become more apparent than ever. GIS can play an important role in
numerous areas:
- Emergency
planning and risk assessment
- Emergency
operations support
- Emergency
dispatch
- Tactical/field
operations support
- Impact analysis
- Disaster
response and citizen support
- Damage assessment
and recovery.
For more than
15 years, we have been active in designing and implementing GIS
databases to support address and E911 applications, as well as the
broader area of strategic and tactical support to emergency planning
and response organizations at the local and state level. Our industry-neutral
approach and vast experience in applying IT and GIS complements
our key qualifications below:
- GIS and systems
integration expertise
- Familiarity
with emergency management and public safety programs and development
of applications in these areas
- Experience
with state-level database development, and design and development
of local E911 and GIS databases for emergency response
- Understanding
of regulations and standards impacting system development (FEMA,
FCC, Office of Homeland Security, NENA, NEMA, and others)
- Experience
in all technical and project management aspects of system development
and oversight
- Deep understanding
of state and local government operations
- Well-positioned
to explore and help secure outside funding
- Seasoned,
skilled, and dedicated staff with operational experience.
PlanGraphics has
provided a range of services to clients in support of E911 and emergency
operations. For many of our past city and county clients, we have
designed and, in some cases, developed, GIS applications to support
emergency services (police and fire) planning and response. |

In the case
of Bonneville County and Idaho Falls, Idaho, we carried out a full
needs assessment, design, and lead procurement of vendor products
and services for a new, integrated city/county emergency dispatch
and GIS system. In other cases, we have developed database design
and development specifications for street centerline mapping and
addressing to support E911 databases.
Some of the
most recent such projects are in the City of New York, where we
are currently providing technical assistance to the implementation
of new E911 CAD systems in NYPD and FDNY. We also performed extensive
around-the-clock services operating the Emergency Mapping and Data
Center in the New York City Emergency Operations Center during the
response.
Among PlanGraphics'
other projects supporting emergency management programs is our work
with the Chemical Stockpile Emergency
Preparedness Progarm (CSEPP) with the State of Kentucky Division
of Emergency Management.
