PlanGraphics Assists District of Columbia with Emergency Web Site WASHINGTON, Dec. 10, 2003PlanGraphics has collaborated with the District of Columbia to create an Emergency Information Center Web site to provide a broad array of emergency and homeland security information to the general public. The site can be accessed through the District's Internet home page at http://www.dc.gov/, or directly at emergencycenter.dc.gov. PlanGraphics provided project management and technical development services to the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) and coordinated a team that included District personnel and various contractors. The site was developed within five months and was officially rolled out on Sept. 30. A preliminary version was made available in time for Hurricane Isabel. "The team really worked hard to get this site up and running in such a short time," said Marina Havan, PlanGraphics' project manager. "The combination of strong leadership from the District and a top-notch technical team really made it happen." The site uses ArcIMS technology from ESRI, supported by an Oracle database. PlanGraphics, founded in 1979, is a full life-cycle systems integration and implementation firm providing a broad range of services in the design and implementation of information technology in the public and commercial sectors. PlanGraphics' experience with spatial information systems and e-services capabilities provides a critical discriminator among other IT consulting and integration firms. PlanGraphics is headquartered in Frankfort, Ky., and has regional offices in Maryland, Colorado, California, Rhode Island, and New York.
