PlanGraphics completes emergency GIS plan for Raleigh, N.C. FRANKFORT, Ky., November 19, 2004PlanGraphics, Inc. (Pink Sheets: PGRA) has completed an assignment for the City of Raleigh, N.C., to analyze, design and plan the enhanced use of geographic information system (GIS) technology to support the Citys emergency operations. PlanGraphics conducted an in-depth analysis of the Citys GIS resources, emergency operations and emergency information requirements. Based on the analysis, PlanGraphics defined a series of GIS applications to support emergency operations. PlanGraphics also developed a conceptual design for an emergency GIS database, made recommendations for infrastructure enhancement to meet emergency needs and proposed an organizational structure to provide GIS capability under normal circumstances as well as on an around-the-clock emergency basis. PlanGraphics also prepared a three-phased plan for implementing the recommended system and data components. Key concepts of the design include extending direct use of GIS technology to virtually all emergency response personnel, integration of GIS spatial capabilities with related systems and data sources to be used in emergencies and close integration of emergency with day-to-day GIS operations and data maintenance. PlanGraphics, founded in 1979, is a full life-cycle systems integration and implementation firm providing a broad range of services in the design and implementation of information technology in the public and commercial sectors. PlanGraphics experience with spatial information systems and e-services capabilities provides a critical discriminator among other IT consulting and integration firms.
