PlanGraphics to implement enterprise GIS for Gary, Indiana

FRANKFORT, Ky., April 13, 2004—PlanGraphics, Inc. (Pink Sheets: PGRA), has been selected for enterprise geographic information system (GIS) implementation for the City of Gary, Ind., and the Gary Sanitary District. Annie Metcalf, a PlanGraphics executive consultant who is managing the project, said the company's services will build on existing GIS resources in the city and the sanitary district. Specific tasks for which PlanGraphics is responsible include:

Development of a logical data model
Development of a physical geodatabase design
Development of a geodatabase migration strategy
Development of a GIS training plan.

The rollout of the enterprise GIS is scheduled for October 2004. "We have an ambitious schedule to meet our stated goal," said Martin J. Brown, IT/GIS manager for the Gary Sanitary District. "Data scrubbing and building the geodatabases for the GIS are very challenging, but it is going to be a fun year with great rewards for government in the City of Gary."
