PlanGraphics to review Winnipeg department's GIS data model

FRANKFORT, Ky., August 9, 2005—PlanGraphics, Inc. (Pk: PGRA) will help the Winnipeg, Manitoba, Water and Waste Department review its geographic information system (GIS) data content, data integrity, and system integration requirements. This work supports the successful operational GIS program of the department, which provides users with a wide range of water, sanitary sewer and storm sewer utility data and applications.

The project has three main goals:

  • Review the current data model and recommend changes to meet future user needs.
  • Identify problems with data quality and recommend ways to correct them.
  • Examine the requirements and technical approaches for integrating the department's GIS with other spatially referenced systems and databases that are now maintained separately from the department's GIS program.

Peter Croswell of PlanGraphics will manage the project. This assignment follows previous consulting projects in which PlanGraphics supported the department's migration to its current Intergraph/Oracle platform, as well as conversion of water and sewer connection data.
