PlanGraphics selected to assist Fairfax County in defining a new enterprise transportation data model FRANKFORT, Ky., September 20, 2006PlanGraphics, Inc. (Pink Sheets: PGRA) has been selected by Fairfax County, Virginia, to conduct a series of GIS-related tasks that will help the County develop an enterprise transportation data model that can be used for both public safety and non-public safety purposes. Fairfax County is located in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, with a population of about one million. The primary GIS task that will be conducted is to update the county's existing centerline data model to a true enterprise transportation data model capable of supporting all County applications. One stringent requirement of this endeavor is the ability to support automatic vehicle routing and recommendation (AVRR) functions. Another challenge will be to develop a model that is multi-modal, including such features as trails, waterways, and transit. The project will require
coordination with multiple county agencies, adjacent local governments
and overlapping state and federal jurisdictions. This will ensure effective
service of County activities, such as public safety, emergency management,
human services, and transit, that cross jurisdictional boundaries. PlanGraphics, founded in 1979, is a full life-cycle systems integration and implementation firm providing a broad range of services in the design and implementation of information technology in the public and commercial sectors. PlanGraphics experience with spatial information systems and e-services capabilities provides a critical discriminator among other IT consulting and integration firms.
