PlanGraphics to guide design of enterprise geodatabase for Mercer County, N.J.

FRANKFORT, Ky., Jan. 19, 2007—Mercer County, N.J., has selected PlanGraphics, Inc. (PK: PGRA) for an enterprise geodatabase design project.

Mercer County Planning Division has developed its geographic information system (GIS) capabilities over the last decade. A primary goal of the new project will be to establish standards that will facilitate the delivery and sharing of high-quality GIS data for effective planning and decision support, according to Lisa Swain, PlanGraphics’ project manager. This project is being funded by a grant from the United States Department of Homeland Security to facilitate interagency and intergovernmental data migration.

Specific project activities will include the following:

  • Detailed review and assessment of existing data and data management practices
  • Identification of data stewards
  • Technical assistance for an enterprise geodatabase design, data dictionary and metadata
  • Development of a data management plan that will ensure the long-term integrity of the enterprise GIS data.

PlanGraphics previously worked with Mercer County to develop an implementation plan for a transportation asset management information system.
