PlanGraphics to conduct GIS technology needs assessment for Larimer County, Colo.

FRANKFORT, Ky., January 24, 2007—PlanGraphics, Inc. (Pink Sheets: PGRA) has been selected to help Larimer County, Colo., conduct Phase I of a geographic information system (GIS) technology needs assessment. The Phase I assessment is intended to help Larimer County, which has operated a GIS program for many years, determine the future geographic and spatial data and information needs of the County’s agencies, as well as public users of geographic information produced by the County. The Phase I assessment is expected to take approximately five months to complete.

As part of the project, PlanGraphics will evaluate current data resources and identify opportunities for greater data sharing and exchange across the County’s agencies. The need to modify the format and content of current geographic data holdings and to develop new data sets will also be determined. To effectively meet the County’s business requirements for geographic data, a multi-year technical and organizational plan for managing the County’s spatial data will be developed. The plan will cover such items as data collection, clean-up and reformatting to use current technology, and on-going maintenance. The plan will be based on recognized standards for managing geographic or spatial information and the best business practices that are being used within the GIS industry and by other governmental entities similar to Larimer County.

The project will conclude with the development of a work plan and budget that can be pursued in Phase II of the assessment to evaluate the County’s GIS software and hardware infrastructure components and configuration and to develop a strategic implementation plan to guide future GIS activities by the County.
