PlanGraphics to develop enterprise GIS for City of Joliet

FRANKFORT, Ky., Oct. 15, 2007—PlanGraphics (PK: PGRA) has been selected by the City of Joliet, Ill., to develop an enterprise geographic information system (GIS) for the City. Some of the City’s departments have used GIS technology for a number of years, and the City now wishes to expand its capabilities.

PlanGraphics’ approach to this assignment will entail the following tracks:

  • Track 1: Planning—Needs assessment and planning activities identified in the RFP with optional tasks that may assist the City in gaining acceptance and approval for an enterprise approach to GIS.
  • Track 2: System Configuration and Installation—System configuration design, specifications, and support in installation of hardware, software and communications necessary to support the enterprise GIS.
  • Track 3: Data Design, Migration and Management Plan—Enterprise data requirements and logical model, initial phase geodatabase design for existing GIS data, data standards, and a plan for maintenance, expansion, and management of the GIS data in the future.
  • Track 4: Project Management—On-going project management for the duration of the project including managing project team and communication with the City on project status and any issues.

Annie Metcalf, one of PlanGraphics’ most experienced local-government GIS specialists, will manage the project. “The project and other information technology improvements in the City are a result of the vision of the City management team and the need to improve the City’s business processes to more effectively address the City’s continued rapid growth,” Metcalf said.
