PlanGraphics’ pilot project to integrate transportation model data for Fairfax County, Va.

FRANKFORT, Ky., Oct. 15, 2008—PlanGraphics, Inc. (PGRA.OB) has been selected by Fairfax County, Virginia, to conduct a pilot transportation data integration project.

The pilot project implements part of the enterprise multi-modal transportation data model which PlanGraphics assisted Fairfax County in developing over the last two years. The model involves four main types of transportation, roadways, pathways, railways, and waterways, plus a fifth feature class called connectors which link other modes of transportation together. The current project involves the roadway, pathway, and connector feature classes.

The primary initial use of the linked network will be routing of public safety and emergency response equipment and personnel using the County’s new computer-aided dispatch system. Future uses of the integrated network will include multi-modal routing such as bike routing pedestrian routing.
