PlanGraphics to assist Joliet Department of Utilities with database design, editing, and loading

FRANKFORT, Ky., Dec. 3, 2008—PlanGraphics, Inc. (PGRA.OB) will provide services to the Joliet (Illinois) Department of Utilities for database design modifications and water and sewer data migration from CAD to a geodatabase. This assignment will include additional data layers and any modification to the database structure as required by the new data, new applications, or work flows. Also included in this task are services for water and sewer data editing and the loading of the data into the enterprise GIS.

PlanGraphics will provide updated documentation for the database design, including an updated Microsoft Visio entity-relationship diagram and a Microsoft Access database design tool. Specific services to be provided include the following:

  • Register and edit the water and sewer data to the Joliet base map using common points such as intersections
  • Separate files into appropriate layers
  • Edit the file for topology and connectivity (overshoots, gaps, unnecessary or missing nodes, etc.)
  • Identify problems that we can not resolve without field investigation
  • Convert missing section of the water and sewer network from subdivision plats
  • Provide the data in GIS format back to Public Utilities with a list of issues to resolve
  • Validate connectivity and other topology requirements and load water and sewer data to the network

PlanGraphics will start the project with a pilot area to ensure that all procedures and processes are appropriate.
