Fairfax County selects PlanGraphics for two quality control projects

FRANKFORT, Ky., February 26, 2009—Fairfax County, Va., has selected PlanGraphics, Inc. (PGRA.OB) to provide quality control services in two data capture and conversion projects.

In one project, PlanGraphics will perform quality assurance checks on planimetric and topographic data that is being updated for the County's enterprise geographic information system (GIS). The project will include review of the conversion procedures, FGDC blind checkpoint accuracy, data model adherence, planimetric update data, DTM, contours, and cartographic specifications. This is expected to be a multi-year assignment, as the County intends to update planimetric and topographic features for about 25 percent of the County annually.

In the second project, PlanGraphics will review data being developed for the first phase implementation of the County's new transportation data model, which was recently created by the County with consulting assistance from PlanGraphics. The Phase 1 data is initially intended to support the County's new computer-aided dispatch (CAD) and records-management system (RMS), but it will also be used by numerous other County agencies and programs.

PlanGraphics, founded in 1979, is a full life-cycle systems integration and implementation firm providing a broad range of services in the design and implementation of information technology in the public and commercial sectors. PlanGraphics’ experience with spatial information systems and e-services capabilities provides a critical discriminator among other IT consulting and integration firms.
