Enterprise
Spatial Integration Tool Set
What are
the components of the enterprise spatial integration tool set?
- WIISE
(Wireless & Internet Infrastructure Software Environment)
is an Internet-based tool for wireless and Web-based solutions,
which delivers location-based information to thin-client devices;
- Fire
is an advance application development tool set that provides access
to spatial data repositories and warehouses.
These tools
can integrate distributed data resources, using an Internet solution
to display and interact with spatial and attribute data. WIISE includes
a graphical interface that allows an administrator to configure
spatial and attribute data. The tool kit also includes translators
that allow many disparate types of non-spatial and spatial data
to be loaded into a spatially-enabled database, such as Oracle 8i/9i.
Once loaded
into a database, or distributed databases on a network, or databases
connected via the Internet or Intranet, WIISE allows a full range
of configuration options, including application of symbology, creation
of custom symbology, view thresholds, multiple collections built
from spatial layers, and attribute tables (e.g., non-spatial data
of any form) gathered as data services from whatever databases are
on a network. The attached figure
shows an example of a system architecture that uses the integration
tool set to provide access to data via standard Web browsers.
