Application Name Assetmaster
Application Description

Assetmaster is a comprehensive Asset Management system designed to provide Government and utility organizations with a complete computer records management system for the storage of information relating to assets and their management.

Through Assetmaster, the user can generate accounting reports for different types of assets, and within geographically defined boundaries. The user can, for example, compare the total value of buildings within different census areas or evaluate the need for expenditure on sewers in different suburbs. The user is also able to perform bulk updates over an area, or apply sophisticated revaluation techniques to assets.

Assetmaster also enables the user to predict the value of assets in future years based upon factors such as replacement costs, design life and inflation rate. Through this facility the organization is more able to predict future expenditure and to budget accordingly.

Assetmaster applications cover the following business functions:

  • The definition of assets as logically managed structures.
  • Collection of asset data, both physical and financial, e.g. condition, valuation data, depreciation data, physical attributes.
  • The collection of data (e.g., from timesheets) that report the physical activities carried out on an asset.
  • The management and reporting of the above data which is required by both the Assets Engineer and the financial department.
  • The ability to integrate reporting modules with external applications (i.e. MS Word, Access, Lotus Notes, Crystal Reports).
  • Variance costing and job tracking for activities undertaken on an asset or group of assets.
  • Provision of an audit trail of activities.
  • The analysis of the data to provide intelligent decision making support.
  • The analysis of data to provide predictive costs and timelines for maintenance works.
  • Creation and management of maintenance schedules and work orders
  • Integration to financial applications to track expenditure against assets

Assetmaster is designed to support financial management/reporting processes. It is designed to interface with existing financial systems, by providing them with valuation data and projected valuations and costs that are needed for budgeting and decision support. For the engineer, Assetmaster provides a complete lifecycle management system.

A key feature of Assetmaster is that it can store all of the information of each asset item with the graphical representation of the asset. Attributes such as dimensions, maintenance history, responsibilities, condition and financial details are registered against each entry on the digital map. The spatial information system becomes an organization's central assets register, replacing disparate data normally held in different locations throughout the organization. Assetmaster ensures that no duplication of information exists from the corporate viewpoint, at the same time ensuring full integrity of asset data.
